In Mathematics, a function is a relation between a given set of elements called the domain and a set of elements called the codomain. The function associates each element in the domain with exactly one element in the codomain. An example of a function with a domain would be {A,B,C}. A function can be described in several ways. It can be described by a formula, a plot or graph. In pure mathematics, functions are defined using set theory and there are theorems that show the existence of uncountably many different functions and most can not be expressed with a formula or algorithm. Functions are used in every area of mathematics. The area of mathematics that takes function as a main set of study is called analysis. In functions, there is an independent variable or argument that is usually represented by the letter x but if the input or indepent variable is revolved around time then people would usually represent it as the letter t. In functions there are also dependent variables or value that is usually represented by the letter y. The function itself if represented by f and that is why f=y(x)
