I, Too, Sing America
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.
Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.
Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed--
I, too, am America.
My poetry:
I, too, sing America
Of the great country that had its flag held high
high in the open sky
a flag so strong I wish I can call it mine
Today I see no shame
Tomorrow I will take the blame
Standing up for my countries' will
For with me they will have power
Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed--

Basketball Update
So far the Nuggets are 47-25. Since Kenyon Martin has been injured they lost another big man which is very unfortunate because they aren't a very big team to begin with. Carmelo Anthony has to now grab rebounds more often and the other day he had a career-high 18 boards in a game. The Nuggets have been 5-4 since George Karl has been out. The Nuggets are now tied with Jazz for second place in the western conference.
Hopefully George Karl comes back as soon as possible as well as Kenyon Martin because the season is coming to a close.

Altas: God of Thunder
King Atlas, a mythical King of Mauretania, was also known as Aparajit in Hindusim, according to legend, a wise philosopher, mathematician and astronomer who supposedly made the first celestial globe. It was this Atlas that Gerardus Mercator was referring to when he first used the name 'Atlas', and he included a depiction of the King on the title-page. However, the more widely known Atlas is a figure from Greek mythology. He is the son of the Titan Iapetus and Clymene (or Asia), and brother of Prometheus. Atlas was punished by Zeus and made to bear the weight of the heavens (the idea of Atlas carrying the Earth isn't correct according to the original myth) on his back, on top of Mt. Tam. One of Heracles's labours was to collect the apples of the Hesperides, guarded by Ladon. Heracles went to Atlas and reasoned with him. Eventually, Atlas agreed to collect the apples, and Heracles was left to carry the weight. Atlas tried to leave Heracles there, but Heracles tricked him and Atlas was left to carry the heavens forever. In his epic Odyssey, Homer refers to this Atlas as "one who knows the depths of the whole sea, and keeps the tall pillars who hold heaven and earth asunder". In works of art, this Atlas is represented as carrying the heavens or the Celestial Sphere, on his shoulders.
This is a Myth.

Benjamin Banneker
Benjamin Banneker was born November 9, 1731. He was a free African American astronomer, mathematician, surveyor, almanac author and farmer. Benjamin Banneker completed the clock in 1753 at the age of 21. Benjamin Banneker's invention affects use because people use clocks to know what time it is in the day. His invention affects me because I use clocks to know what time it is as well.

Process of Suicide Amongst Teens
The risk of suicide increases dramatically when kids and teens have access to firearms at home, and nearly 60% of all suicides in the United States are committed with a gun. That's why any gun in your home should be unloaded, locked, and kept out of the reach of children and teens. Suicide rates differ between boys and girls. Girls think about and attempt suicide about twice as often as boys, and tend to attempt suicide by overdosing on drugs or cutting themselves. Yet boys die by suicide about four times as often girls, perhaps because they tend to use more lethal methods, such as firearms, hanging, or jumping from heights.

Police Taser Student at Basketball Game
This is a link to a video that shows a police officer using a taser on kids in High School. This happened after a basketball fight. My opinion on this is that it is not right because police officers should not be able to taser kids. Sometimes adults die when they are taser and the same thing can happen to kids which is not what we want in our community and I think that the government should make this illegal.
Who: The teenagers at the basketball game.
What: Some student were being tasered.
When: During a school basketball game.
Where: At a high school basketball game.
Why: Because there was a fight at the basketball game.

Martin Luther King "The Other America"
Martin Luther King Jr. a man who has helped lead to a great change. He was born January 15, 1929 which is also the reason why i am making this post. He was an American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on Civil Rights in the United States and he became an icon. He led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and help found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957. He also led to the 1963 March on Washington where he delivered his "I Have A Dream" speech.
Martin Luther King made another famous speech called "The Other America". In the speech he speaks of two different types of Americas. One America is separated and was known for it's poverty around the world and it was a horrible place for anyone to live in. The other America however was totally opposite, everyone was united as one just like the constitution proposed it should be and America was known only for it's riches and prosperity as it was the best place to live in on the Earth. He speaks of these two Americas in a way that relates back to the topic of Civil Rights and why Black people have made so many efforts to stop segregation because it would lead to the bad United States.
